This symposium will kick off a new international public history project on Migration and Environmental Justice led by students and faculty in the Departments of Asian American Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). In bringing together two of the most pressing concerns of our time, we will explore how migrants and the larger social condition of migration are deeply intertwined with environmental concerns. Our goal is to re-assess assumptions about migrants and their relationship with nature and the environment.
