Michaela Anastasia Austin is a third year UCSB student working towards her Environmental Studies/ Sociology double major. With a focus in environmental justice, she is especially interested in how toxic materials and climate change disproportionately affect communities of color. She is employed at Whole Foods Market, as a Whole Body Team member working with nutritional supplements and natural body care products. Michaela enjoys cooperative-style living as a member of the Santa Barbara Student Housing Co-ops. She resides in Biko, the People of Color house, which is an intentional space actively seeking to spread awareness about racial equality, social justice, and anti-oppression.
